Worst. Trade. Ever?

I read this article today on Deadspin and it got me thinking about some of my terrible fantasy baseball trades. I also know I’m not the only to make a crazy trade, so my question is this – what is the craziest/worst trade you’ve ever been a part of have seen go through in your league? Respond in the comments below.

By the way, in a non-keeper league I traded away David Wright after he had 0 HR, 6 RBI and a .244 BA during April 2007. To make it worse, I added Brandon Phillips to the deal and got Jermaine Dye and Adam Loewen in return. I am so lucky that wasn’t in a keeper league.

About Jim Higgins

Jim grew up in San Diego the son of a Washington, D.C. native so naturally he roots for the Washington Redskins and San Diego Padres. After seeing his favorite teams win a couple of titles early in his life, he has spent the last 20 years wondering if his teams will ever amount to anything again. At least he has multiple fantasy baseball and football titles to soften the blow.

  1. I’m in a keeper league. Last year I had a good group of starting pitchers and very weak closers. I traded Strasburg to get K.Jansen, Even though Jansen had a good season, he’s not even going to me a closer next year. So now Jansen isn’t even a keeper for 2013. I sure wish I still had Strasburg!

  2. Trading Strasburg for RP was insane, no explanation possible…

  3. ZipperLCMC says:

In a keeper league I traded Trout for Cc sabathia then traded sabathia for Hellickson & a 3rd rnd pick. (8 team keeper league). I did all this 1 week before trout got the call up. Even though it’s not a trade I dropped Neil walker & Aron hill before the season. Last year was my first fantasy season (def learned a lot the hard way). Ended with a 15-7 record thanks to so killer wavier wire pickups.

  4. I think the hardest thing about playing in a keeper league is exercising patience. If you can make a move and contend for a title, you have to make it but every so often those moves don’t pay off. And it hurts.
