Keeper Implications – Alvarez, Madson, Royals 2B

Alvarez keeps Pirates’ 3B job

Entering 2011, most fantasy owners had high hopes for former top prospect Pedro Alvarez. However, after a .191/.272/.289 slash line last year, Alvarez fell off most fantasy owners’ radars and it looked like he was going to have to win back his job.  [Read more...]

Keeper Implications – Chamberlain

There isn’t a whole lot of news with keeper implications today so this will be shorter than normal.

Is Chamberlain even relevant anymore?

For all the things the Yankees did to protect Joba Chamberlain, it seems the final nail has finally been put into the coffin as he severely injured his ankle playing with his son. [Read more...]

Keeper Implications – Bard, Allen

Bard’s experiment as starter is over, but is value gone?

What seems to work for the Rangers has failed to work for the Red Sox this spring as it looks like setup man Daniel Bard is headed back to the bullpen. And if that wasn’t awkward enough, he now seems to be a man without a role as the Sox filled both the closer role and 8th inning role this offseason. Keeper Implications – Soria, Vizcaino, Heyward

Soria headed for Tommy John surgery?

While things are still unclear in regards to the extent of the damage to Joakim Soria’s elbow, the Royals are preparing for the worst as they’ve told Aaron Crow he’s moving back to the bullpen. Originally being stretched out to compete for a rotation slot, Crow is most likely to compete with Greg Holland and Jonathan Broxton for the closer’s gig. Looking at these names, the guy I believe that will end the season with the most saves is Crow. [Read more...]

Don’t pay for hype with Darvish, Cespedes

When the slow auction for my keeper league begins Friday morning, the first player I’m throwing out will be one of the two biggest international imports this offseason – either Yu Darvish or Yoenis Cespedes. And once I make that nominating bid, I will sit back and watch my league mates battle it out for two guys whose values are based all on hype and have very uncertain futures. [Read more...]
