On The Wire: AL Preseason Recap

November 17th, 2010

By Jim Higgins

Before the 2010 season began, I ran a series of posts outlining one possible keeper candidate from each MLB team. Some of these guys were more obvious than others, but then again, some teams have a lot more talent than others. In the interest of full disclosure, I have decided to recap my calls to see if any of the guys I mentioned actually panned out.

I’ll start with the AL today, and I will post the NL recap later. If you want to go back and read what I had to say, just click on the division: AL East, AL Central, AL West.

It’s time for Part 2 in the series of potential keepers you can pick up on the cheap, and this part will focus on the AL West. Again, these are guys that should be easy to get, either via trade or on the cheap at the end of your draft or auction and have the potential to be keepers in 2011.

Attention shoppers, make sure you check the price

With the World Series now over and the Hot Stove getting ready to heat up, many keeper league offseasons are now in full swing. If your league is like mine, you have already seen a few trades go through as your fellow owners try to get a jump on next year’s championship.

But before you go out and spend like your a long-lost Steinbrenner, make sure you aren’t suckered into overpaying for the guy who ends up filling the last spot on your bench.
